Labradoodle Puppies for Sale
Overview
Looking for Labradoodle puppy for sale? This dog has quickly become one of the most popular designer breeds in America. The term “Labradoodle” appeared as far back as 1955 ,but was not popularized until the 1980’s, when a member of The Royal Guide Dog Association in Victoria, Australia, formalized the breed and designated it as an allergy-friendly guide dog.
However, not all Labradoodles are allergy-friendly. To ensure your pup fits into a home with allergies, look for an F1B mix. This subset of the breed is 75% Poodle and 25% Labrador and is generally considered to be consistently allergy-friendly.
Of course, being hypoallergenic isn’t this dog’s only asset. This pup is also valued for intelligence, loyalty, and his handsome appearance.
This breed is recognized by the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club) and can be registered through IDCR (International Designer Canine Registry) and ICA (International Canine Association, Inc).

Temperament
Want to adopt a Labradoodle puppy? Like many hunting breeds, they are intelligent, athletic, and playful. This mix of Poodle and Labrador Retriever inherits many signature traits of both breeds, including loyalty, an eagerness to please, friendliness to dogs and people, and the need for vigorous exercise.
To keep your dog calm and centered, make sure you provide him with lots of daily exercise. This breed needs plenty of active outdoor time, and usually enjoys playing fetch. He isn’t always a good choice for apartment dwellers.
Smart, obedient Labradoodles are relatively easy to train. This pup responds well to a gentle approach to training.
They are playful, affectionate, and love children. This dog is also comfortable around strangers and other dogs.
Health
If you are looking for a Labradoodle puppy to buy, make sure you understand their health requirements. All mixed breed dogs have a better chance of having fewer health concerns because of their genetic diversity. However, because both Poodles and Labrador Retrievers are prone to hip dysplasia and cataracts, this designer breed may be at risk of developing one or both of these conditions. It’s important to monitor your pup’s weight carefully, because excess bulk is more likely to aggravate hip dysplasia.
Because this breed sometimes is prone to eye infections, gently wipe the area around his eyes each day to remove any small bits of crust or buildup. Take your dog to the vet if you see cloudiness.
Labradoodles sometimes have food allergies, so monitor your dog’s diet. If you see signs of itchy or dry skin, check with your vet to see if your pup has allergies. If your dog is vomiting or has diarrhea, call your vet immediately.
All breeds of dogs should be brought in for regular vet checkups. It’s essential for all dog owners to keep their dog current on all shots and vaccinations.
Coat & Coat Care
Coats can be curly, and non-shedding, similar to the Poodle. They can also be short, dense, and sometimes harsh in texture, more similar to the Labrador.
When you look for Labradoodle puppies for sale, it’s helpful to understand their coat and coat care. Brushing 2 – 3 times weekly will help prevent tangling, and matting. Because matting can irritate skin, it’s important to minimize matting on your curly-coated dog. If your Labradoodle has predominant Lab features, they will tend to shed a little. Brushing more frequent during those times will help maintain a healthy coat.
