This Keeshond is part of the Spitz family and were originally bred to guard canal boats. They went through a period of neglect and did not become popular again until they were introduced to the United States in the 1920’s. This breed was first registered by the AKC in 1930 and was grouped as Non-Sporting.

Temperament
The Keeshond is an affectionate and independent breed. They are alert and will make a great watchdog. This breed is friendly, happy and will do well with children.

Coat & Coat Care
Their coat is straight, long and thick.
They should be brushed twice weekly because of the amount of hair that they have. Bathe when necessary.
